New Congregations Welcomed

Seven congregations were welcomed into the Diocese of the Missouri Valley this summer. Of the Seven congregations, four are from the state of Texas and three are from the state of Colorado. St. Stephens, Athens, Christ Church, Denison, All Saints, San Antonio, and the mission of the Ascension, Amarillo are all from Texas.  St. Lukes, Colorado Springs, St. Clare, Longmont, and St. Francis are the three from Colorado.  The congregations were welcomed at the synod with aplause, and added greatly to the synod meetings. Lay people and clergy were elected and appointed to various positions at the synod. We look forward to a fruitful and Spirit filled relationship as we journey together in Christ. Welcome!

Fr. Lossing Leads Synod Retreat

Fr. Larry Lossing led the Diocese of the Missouri Valley Synod Quiet Day  where both laity and clergy were present.  Fr. Lossing is an ecumenical officer for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlando, Florida.  He was formerly an Episcopal priest who was received some years ago under the pastoral provision of the Roman Catholic Church, and is a friend of Archbishop Falk.  He offered great insight into our Anglican presence in the world and prayerful direction as we contemplated Jesus Christ and our Church's ministry .   Fr. Lossing was able to share the entire Synod time with us.

Pictured  are (Lto R) Mrs. Donna Lowery, Fr. Patrick Lowery, Fr. Larry Lossing, Mrs. Joanie Carson, and Fr. Doug Carson at the DMV synod reception hosted by St. Aidans parish.

Annunciation Cathedral Ottawa

Fr. Patrick and Donna Lowery traveled to the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada Cathedral of the Annunciation in Ottawa Canada.  Fr. Patrick and Donna attended Matins and Mass on Sunday and later visited in the undercroft with parish members, Bishop Mercer, and Dean Reid.  Morning Prayer (Matins) was recited prayerfully and with great care. Later followed Mass; Dean Reid Celebrated Mass and preached. Fr. Reid's presence at the altar was skillful and his preaching inspiring. After Mass tea, coffee, and food was availble in the undercroft as parishioners visited. Bishop Mercer shared bits of his wisdom with Fr. Patrick and later a photograh was taken with Bishop Mercer, Dean Reid, and Fr. Patrick (pictured above). Later that afternoon Fr. Patrick and Donna had dinner with Dean Reid, Fr. and Mrs. David Walsh and several parishioners. It was wonderful to visit with our sister church in Canada.
